FLEUR DE LYS BOOKMARK

I used a cotton that I am not familiar with.  I think it was size 30.  Found it in the Op Shop.  0.75mm hook.

 

Special stitch instructions:

 

Fleur de Lys: Trc in loop.  (Insert hook under bar of trc just made and pull up a loop.  Yarn over and pull through 1 loop on hook.) 7 times.  Insert hook under bar one more time and pull up a loop.  Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.  Yarn over and pull loosely through loop.  First petal made. 

*Ch2, trc in same ch2 loop as last petal was made and make another petal as before.  Repeat from * once more.  Fleur de Lys completed. 

Chain 5 to begin.

 

1st row:             Dc in 4th ch from hook and next ch.  Ch6, turn.

 

2nd row:            Dc in 4th ch from hook and next 2 ch, dc in next 3 dc.  Work

                        4 foundation dc, ch4 turn.

 

3rd row:             Dc in 4th ch from hook and next dc.  (ch1, skip 1dc, dc in next dc) twice.

                        dc in next 2 dc, (ch1, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc) twice.  Work 2 foundation

dc.               Ch3 turn.

 

4th row:             Dc in next 2 dc.  *(ch1, dc in next dc) twice.  Dc in next 2 dc.  Repeat

                        from * once.  Ch3, turn.

 

5th row:             Dc in next 2 dc.  Ch3.  Work (dc, ch3, dc) in centre dc of next 3dc group.

                        Ch3, dc in each of last 3 dc on row.  Ch3, turn

 

6th row:             Dc in next 2 dc.  Ch4.

                        (dc, ch2 dc) in centre ch3 loop, ch4, dc in each of last 3 dc on row.  Ch3,

                        turn.

 

7th row:             Dc in next 2 dc, Fleur de Lys in centre ch2 loop, dc in last 3 dc on row.

                        ch3, turn.

 

8th row:             Dc in next 2 dc.  Ch4, sc in top of centre petal in Fleur de Lys.  Ch4, dc in

                        last 3dc on row.  Ch3, turn.

 

9th row:             Dc in next 2dc.  Ch3, dc in sc.  Ch3, dc in same sc.  Ch3, dc in last 3 dc,

                        ch3 turn.

 

10th row:           Dc in next 2dc.  Ch1, dc in 1st loop, ch1, 3dc in centre loop, ch1, dc in next

                        loop, ch1, dc in next 3 dc.  Ch3, turn.

35th row:           Same as row 4 but do not ch3 at end.  Turn.

 

36th row:          Sl st across to 1st space.  Ch3, dc in each dc and space up to last ch space.

                       turn.

 

37th Row:         Sl st across to 4th dc.  Ch3, dc in next 2 dc.  Do not fasten off.

 

Edge

 

Rnd 1:              Ch 4, do not turn.  Sc in side of dc on row below, ch4, sc in side of first

                        dc on next row below.

                        Working along side of bookmark *ch3, sc in side of next dc.  Repeat

                         from * until you get to corner, then work ch4, sc, twice as before.

                        At top, work ch3, sc in side of 3rd (last) dc.  (ch4, sc in side of 1st dc

                        on row below) twice.  Work other side and end to correspond ending with

                        ch3, sl st to join.

 

Rnd 2:              Turn your work so that right side of bookmark is facing.  Work 5sc into

                        1st 3ch loop.  In each of next 2 4ch loops work 3sc, 1dc, 3sc.

                        *In next 3ch loop work 5dc,

                        in next 3ch loop work 1sc. 

                        Repeat from * to end.

                        In each of next 2 4ch loops work 3sc, 1dc, 3sc, then 5sc in centre loop on

                        end.  In each of next 4ch loops work 3sc, 1dc, 3sc.

                        *in next 3 ch loop work 1sc.  In next 3ch loop work 5dc. 

                        Complete to correspond.

 

Finish off.

 

Darn in ends and add ribbon as pictured, or decorate in your own preferred way.
