As my tension is unsuited to Filet crochet, I made this using a variation of the normal formular. My spaces were worked as dc, ch1 dc and the blocks as only 3dc instead of the usual 4.
In hindsight it was probably a mistake, as although it worked out fairly square (which was what I was aiming for), the picture didn't really stand out well. Love the tree though. I think I will use the tree again.
I'm just experimenting a little bit. For my next project I think I'll just try using trebles instead of doubles.
Just remember, if you have tried a few filet patterns, you know your own tension. Look at the chart before you begin and work it in a way that suits you. The most important thing is that your blocks and spaces should be square. Everything else (thread size, hook size and colour included) is up to you and nowhere is it written in blood that you must follow instructions implicitly.
