Doll’s House Bed Spread © 2003 Jacqui Cunningham
Materials: Size 40 crochet cotton and 0.6mm hook. The finished bedspread measures 3 ¼ inches (8cm) by 3 ¾ inches (9 ½ cm). The bed spread can be increased in size by adding extra repeats of the pattern. You will need to add 19 extra chain to the foundation chain for each additional pattern repeat. Note: The dc 2 tog is just my preferred way of turning. The alternate way is ch3 to turn, skip 1st dc, dc in next dc. Either way is ok.
To begin, ch 50 1st Row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and each ch across. (Makes 48 dc including turning chain) Ch3, turn. 2nd Row: Dc 2 together over 1st two dc. (Ch 2, skip 2dc, dc in next 2 dc) twice. *Ch2, skip 2 dc, sc in next 5dc. (ch2, skip 2dc, dc in next 2 dc) 3 times. Rpt from * once. Ch3, turn. 3rd Row: Dc 2 tog over 1st 2dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2 dc) twice. *Ch3, skip 1sc, sc in next 3 sc. Ch3, skip next sc, dc in next 2dc. (ch2, dc in next 2 dc) twice. Rpt from * once. Ch3, turn. 4th Row: Dc 2 tog over 1st 2dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2dc) twice. *Ch4, skip 1sc, sc in next sc. Ch4, skip next sc, dc in next 2dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2dc) twice. Rpt from * once. Ch3, turn. 5th Row: Dc 2 tog over 1st 2dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2dc) twice. *Ch2, trc in next 4ch loop. Ch4, trc in next 4ch loop. (ch2, dc in next 2dc) 3 times. Repeat from *. Ch3, turn 6th Row: Dc 2 tog over 1st 2dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2dc) twice. *Ch4, skip next trc, sc in next 4ch loop. Ch4, skip next trc, dc in next 2 dc. (ch2, dc in next 2 dc) twice. Rpt from * once. Ch3, turn. 7th Row: Dc 2 tog over 1st 2 dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2 dc) twice. *Ch3, sc in next space. Sc in next sc, sc in next space. Ch3, dc in next 2 dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2 dc) twice. Rpt from * once. Ch3, turn. 8th Row: Dc 2 tog over 1st 2 dc. (Ch2, dc in next 2 dc) twice. *Ch2, sc in next loop. Sc in next 3 sc, sc in next loop. (Ch2, dc in next 2 dc) 3 times. Rpt from * once. Ch3, turn.
Repeat rows 3 to 8 inclusive 4 times or more if making a larger bedspread. Next Row: Dc 2 tog over 1st 2 dc then work 2dc in each space and 1dc in each stitch across row. (48dc). This is the top of the bedspread. Do not turn but slip stitch in side of last dc just worked, then work as follows down left side. Ch5, skip 1st dc below, sc in side of next dc below. *Ch5, skip next dc, sc in side of next dc. Rpt from * to end of left side. Ch5, sc in side of last dc again. Working across bottom of bedspread, *Ch5, skip 2dc, sc between next 2dc. Rpt from * to corner. (Ch5, sc in side of last dc) twice
Then work 5ch loops down right had side as before. Turn. Do not work across top.
Next row: Slip st to centre of 1st loop. Ch1, sc in same loop. *Ch8, sc in 6th ch from hook for a picot. Ch2, sc in next 5ch loop. Rpt from * around. Fasten off and darn in ends.
