Materials: I used Madiera size 20 crochet cotton and a 0.75mm hook for this. Start by winding thread 6 times around a small pencil. Slide the ring off enough to insert the hook into the ring and pull up a loop. Ch1 to secure. This gives a nice padded ring to start but is a little tricky. If you can’t manage neatly, use alternate starting method of ch7, sl st in 1st chain to form a ring. Ch1 to start.
Rnd 1: Work 18 sc in ring. Sl st in front loop only of 1st sc to join. Rnd 2: Ch1, sc in same loop as join. (Ch5, skip 2sc, sc in front loop of next sc) 5 times. Ch5, sl st to join in 1st sc. Rnd 3: (sc, 5dc, sc) in each loop around. Sl st to join in back loop only of 1st sc of round 1 below. Rnd 4: Ch1, sc in same back loop as join. Working behind petals of last rnd, (ch6, skip next 2sc on round 1. Sc in back loop of next sc) 5 times. Ch6, sl st to join in 1st sc. Rnd 5: (Sc, 7dc, sc) in each loop around. Sl st to join in 1st sc of 1st petal. Rnd 6: Ch1, sc in same st as join. (Ch5, skip 2dc, sc in next dc) twice. Ch5, skip next dc, sc between next 2sc. *Ch5, skip sc and 2dc, sc in next dc. Ch5, skip 2dc, sc in next dc. Ch5 skip next dc, sc between next 2 sc. Rpt from * around ending with ch5, sl st to join in 1st sc of round. (18 loops) Rnd 7: Sl st to centre chain of 1st loop. Ch1, sc in same loop. *Ch6, sc in next loop. Rpt from * around ending with ch3, dc in 1st sc of round to join. Rnd 8: Ch1, sc in same loop. *(Ch4, work 2dc in 4th ch from hook working off together for a cluster) twice. (Double Cluster made) sc in next loop. Rpt from * around, joining last cluster with a slip st in 1st sc. Rnd 9: Sl st to centre of 1st double cluster. Ch1, sc in same space. *work a double cluster, sc in centre of next double cluster. Join last cluster with a slip st to 1st sc of round. Rnd 10: Sl st to centre of 1st double cluster, Ch5, dc in same space. *Ch5, (dc, ch2, dc) in centre of next double cluster. Rpt from * around ending with ch5, sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch5. Rnd 11: Sl st into ch2 space. Ch4, (dc, ch1) 3 times in 5ch space. *Dc, ch1 in 2ch space, (dc, ch1) 3 times in next 5ch space. Rpt from * around. Sl st to join in 3rd chain of beginning ch4. Rnd 12: Sl st into space. Ch3, 2dc in same space worked off together for a cluster. Ch2, 3dc in next space worked off together. (3dc cluster made). Ch2. Continue around working a cluster in each space with ch2 between. Ch2 and slip st in tip of 1st cluster to join.
Rnd 13: Ch1, sc in tip of same cluster. *Ch5, skip 1 cluster, sc in tip of next. Rpt from * around, ending with ch5, skip last cluster, slip st to join in 1st sc. Rnd 14: *Ch2, 4dc in next 5ch loop. Ch4, sl st in last dc just made for a picot, 4 more dc in same loop. Sl st in next sc. Rpt from * in each 5ch loop around. Sl st to join. Rnd 15: Sl st up to 1st picot. Ch1, 7sc in same picot. Ch2. Work 6sc with 4ch between in next picot. (flower).Ch2. *7sc in next picot, ch2, flower in next picot, ch2. Rpt from * to end. Sl st to join in 1st sc of round. Rnd 16: Sl st to centre sc of 7sc group. Ch1, sc in same stitch. *Ch5, skip 1st 4ch loop on flower, sc in next. Ch5, skip 1 loop, sc in next. Ch5, sc in 4th sc of 7sc group. Rpt from * ending with ch5, sl st in 1st sc of round to join. Rnd 17: Sl st to centre of 1st loop. Ch1, sc in same loop. *Ch6, sc in next loop. Rpt from * around, ending with ch3, dc in 1st sc of round to join. Rnd 18: Same as round 17. Rnd 19: Same as round 17. Rnd 20: Same as round 8 Rnd 21: Same as round 9 Rnd 22: Sl st to centre of 1st double cluster. Ch1, sc in same space. Ch6, *sc in centre of next double cluster. Ch6. Rpt from * around. Sl st to join in 1st sc of round. Rnd 23: In each loop around work 6 sc with ch3 between. Do not ch3 between loops. Sl st in 1st sc to join. Fasten off.
