Ribbon and Rose Napkin Ring © Jacqui Cunningham 2003
Materials Required:
Size 40 crochet cotton. 0.6mm hook. Length of ribbon. Silk rose or other decoration. (one for each napkin in set). .
Ch 18 to begin. 1st Row: In 4th chain from hook work 2dc, ch1, 3dc. Ch5, skip 4ch, dc in next ch. Ch3, skip 3ch, dc in next ch. Ch5, skip 4ch, in last chain work 3dc, ch1, 3dc (shell). Ch3, turn 2nd Row: 3dc, ch1, 3dc (shell) in centre of 1st shell. Ch5, dc in next dc, ch3, dc in next dc, ch5, shell over shell. Ch3, turn
3rd Row: Shell over shell, ch2, insert hook under both of the two loops below and complete a sc to catch them together. Ch2, dc in next dc. Ch3, dc in next dc, ch2, sc around the 2 loops below, ch2, shell over shell, Ch3, turn. 4th Row: Shell over shell. Ch4, dc in next dc, ch3, dc in next dc, ch4, shell over shell. Ch3, turn.
5th Row: Repeat row 2. 6th Row: Rpt row 2 again. 7th Row: Repeat row 3. 8th Row: Repeat row 4. These last 4 rows form pattern. Continue working to length desired. I did 10 repeats in total.
Fasten off and darn in ends. This is the way I completed the napkin ring. Overlap the ends slightly, then taking the length of ribbon insert both ends of the ribbon through the overlapped part, one each side of a bar. Weave the ends in opposite directions around to the front of the napkin ring. Cross over and secure with a stitch. Attach a rose over the top of the joined ribbon. How's that, clear as mud!
