Rose Handbag

Materials: Size 20 crochet cotton. 1.00mm hook. A ribbon rose or other decoration.

This tiny bag is the partner to the Rose brim hat published previously. The size is perfect either for a handbag for a 12 inch doll or a carry-all for a fashion doll such as a Barbie. Please note, the hat would be way too big for an 11 inch fashion doll.

Chain 20 to begin.

Rnd 1: Sc in 2^nd ch from hook. Sc in next 17 ch. 3sc in last ch. Turn work and continue along other side of foundation chain.

Sc in next 17 chain. 2sc in last ch. Sl st to join in 1^st sc of round. (40 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch1, work 2sc in same st as join. Sc in next 17 sts. 2sc in each of next 3 sts. Sc in next 17sts. 2sc in each of last 2 sts. Sl st to join in 1^st sc of round.

Rnd 3: Ch1. Work 2sc in same st as join. Sc in next 18sts. (2sc in next st, 1 sc in next st) 3 times. Sc in next 18sc. (2sc in next st, 1sc in next st) twice. Sl st to join in 1^st sc of round.

Rnd 4: Ch1. Work sc in same st as join and each st around. Sl st to join in 1^st sc.

Rnd 5: Ch2. Work Hdc in next st and each st around. Sl st to join in top of ch2.

Rnds 6 – 16: Same as last round.

Rnd 17: Ch1, sc in same st as join. Sc in each st around. Sl st to join in 1^st sc.

Rnd 18: Ch1, sc in same st as join. Sc in next 10 sts. Ch30, skip 15 sts, sc in next 11 sts. Ch30, skip 15 sts, sl st in 1^st sc of round.

Rnd 19: Ch1, sc in same st as join. Sc in nxt 10 sts. Work a sc in each of the 30 chain on handle. Sc in next 10st on bag. Sc in 30 chain of handle. Sl st in 1^st sc of round.

Rnd 20: For last round, sl st in next 10sc across to handle. Sc in 30 sts on handle. Sl st in next 10 sts across to next handle. Sc in 30 sts on handle. Sl st to join in 1^st sl st. Fasten off.

Darn in ends and attach a ribbon rose or other decoration to the centre front.

If you would like a fastener for the bag, take a doubled length of thread and attach at the 7^th sc from handle at the back of the bag. Ch20, skip 1stitch in centre and fasten with a slip st in next st. This forms a loop that can slip over the rose at the front.
